Newsletter Summer Term – Number 6 Thursday 17th July 2008
Dear Parents and Carers,
I’d like to wish you all a very enjoyable and peaceful summer break as this will obviously be my last letter of this academic year.
PTFA Events
My sincere thanks go to Julia Howse and her small team of committed helpers, who’ve worked so hard over the past term organising numerous events which have been thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and have raised a very impressive amount of money for the school. Thank you, also, to everyone who has come along and spent their money! The Summer Fete raised £532, the school disco and talent show a further £220, as well as even more after sports afternoon earlier this week. We will be putting our heads together to see what the priorities are for spending this money to improve the school.
Sponsored Bounce
The generosity of many of our parents is just amazing! We’ve raised a staggering £575 from the 45 children who’ve returned their sponsor money to school so far. A special mention must go to Matthew Jones, Shannen Lovesey and Josh Radnor who all raised over £50 each. Daisy and Poppy Tinkler raised £81 between them – brilliant! I have asked all the children who haven’t yet returned their money to please, please, please pester all those people who promised their sponsor money to cough up and get the money into school! The School Council’s first job next year will be to decide what equipment they would like to buy to make playtimes more fun for everyone!

Staffing Update
In addition to the staffing arrangements detailed in my previous newsletter, I’m pleased to inform you that Kim Mitchell will also be joining our team for one day a week, in the newly created role of Parent and Child Support Advisor. Kim will be working within a local cluster of primary schools to offer non-academic advice and support to parents and children. I think this is a very positive step in helping us all to work together to ensure our pupils receive the best possible care and guidance.

A final good-bye to all our Year 6 children who are now leaving us and moving on to their respective secondary schools. Good luck and best wishes to you all and thank you for being such a great Year 6!
That’s it from me then. I hope to see all the children back here, safe and sound, thoroughly refreshed and raring to go on Wednesday 3rd September!
