4 Jul 2008 - Newsletter - Summer Term - Number 5
Newsletter Summer Term – Number 5 Friday 4th July 2008
Dear Parents and Carers,
With so many things going on towards the end of this academic year and with our thoughts starting to turn to next year, I felt another newsletter was needed.
Class and Team Photographs
All orders must be received by 3:30pm Monday 7th July, so that the school order can be processed in time for the end of term.
Staffing and Class Arrangements for next year.
We’ll be saying goodbye to Fiona Daymond-King at the end of term, along with a huge thank you for all her efforts over the past two years. We all wish her well as she commences her PGCE and fulfils her ambition of becoming a Class Teacher. We’re looking forward to welcoming her replacement Miss Alix Wilson in September.
After much deliberation we have settled on the following arrangements for next year.

I’m pleased to inform you that Mrs Footer will continue providing cover in Classes 2, 3 and 4 for half a day each. Mrs Loveridge will also provide some Teaching Assistant support in Class 2. Obviously there is some imbalance in the class sizes; however, we are convinced that this structure will provide our children with the best possible conditions for learning.
Parents’ Evening (Wednesday 9th July 3:30pm – 6:00pm)
As part of our ongoing objective of providing the best possible service for our parents, we are going to try a slightly different approach to organising our final Parents’ Evening of the year. From 3:30pm until 5:30pm the school will be open for you to come in and admire your children’s work and the wonderful displays around school, as well as having an informal chat with your child’s current class teacher. Then at 5:30pm each Class Teacher will be holding a short meeting for all the parents of the children in their class next year. This will be particularly useful if your child is changing class as you will be able to find out about any new routines, regarding homework for example, as well as having an opportunity to ask questions if you wish.
R.E. Days
My thanks go to our R.E. Subject Leader Mrs Murton and all the other staff whose dedication and hard work resulted in two fabulous creative and productive R.E. days last week. I know the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learnt a great deal in the process. My thanks also go to the many other adults who came in to help, including a number of parents. We are all very grateful and I hope that we can all work on increasing the level of parental involvement for these sorts of events next year.
Extra-Curricular Clubs
All clubs will finish next week, so there will be no clubs during the last week of term.
Sports Afternoon (Thursday 10th July)
We would like all the children, if possible, to wear their house colour for Sports Afternoon. This could be any item of clothing. Your child will know what house they’re in and just to remind you the colours are:
Cleeve – Blue
Coopers – Yellow
Crickley - Red
Please bring the items to school to change into at lunchtime. Thank you.
Choice of Language
Sadly I have received a number of complaints from parents and staff about foul language being used by adults on the playground, when dropping off or collecting their children. We work hard to ensure appropriate language is used in school by the children and swearing is not tolerated. It’s very disappointing to hear of these incidents and I hope that in future all our parents will take a responsible approach to this serious issue.
