Newsletter Summer Term – Number 3                                         Friday 13th June 2008

 Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you all enjoyed the summer half term and isn’t it great to experience some lovely weather at last!

Shurdington Fete

The Village Fete was a great success and the takings, I’m told, were up on previous years.  I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon there but I was slightly embarrassed when my 6 year old beat me at skittles!

Bailey Lylyk

I’m sure you’re all aware that young Bailey had a terrible accident at school a number of weeks ago now.  On behalf of all the staff I’d like to wish Bailey a speedy recovery and we look forward to welcoming him back to school when he’s ready.

Supermarket Vouchers

Both the Sainsbury and Tesco schemes have come to an end now, so please have a hunt around for any remaining vouchers and send them in to school by the end of next week please.

After School Club

Many thanks again to everyone who returned their questionnaires but because of the limited demand we have decided not to organise an after school club.  However, the Gloucestershire County Council’s Children’s Information Service have an up to date list of local childminders.  They can be contacted on 0800 5420202.

Sponsored Bounce – Tuesday 1st July

As promised in my last newsletter, your child has today been given a sponsor form for the “Sponsored Bounce” event on Tuesday 1st July.  I think the form is self-explanatory but if you

require any further information please contact me.  We’re aiming to raise £400 for much

needed playtime equipment and also for somewhere to store the equipment securely but also to have easy access.

Class 4’s Assembly

Unfortunately we had to postpone Class 4’s assembly this week.  However, I’m pleased to inform you that it’s been rearranged for early September.

Yours sincerely

Newsletter Summer Term – Number 2                                  Friday 23rd May 2008

Dear Parents and Carers,

Another half term holiday has arrived!  The last five weeks, including SATs / assessment week, have flown by and I’m sure all the children are looking forward to a week off school!

Sun Protection

Although we haven’t seen much of the sun this week, I would like to remind you to send your child to school with a drink of water and a sun hat.  A small tube of suncream is also a good idea.

Shurdington Fete – Sunday 8th June

Reverend Mitchell has asked me to remind everyone about this fun event and to also ask for help in setting everything up on the Sunday morning.  If you’re able to spare an hour or two please contact Craig Simmonds on 01242 861233.  I’m sure your help will be greatly appreciated.

Lunchtime Supervisors

I’m pleased to welcome Nicola Boucher and Talia Clune on to the lunchtime team.

Cycle Training

Children in Class 4 will be undertaking their cycle training course from Monday 2nd June until Thursday 5th June, using some of the quiet roads next to the school.

After School Club

Thank you to everyone who returned their slip.  21, out of the 76 sent out, were returned and I’m pleased to report that Mrs Styman won the prize draw.  The returned questionnaires show that there is some interest in our idea of setting up an after school club but not an overwhelming demand!  A decision will be made soon after half term as to what we plan to do.

House Point Cups

Congratulations to Crickley who were in 1st place this term, closely followed by Cleeve in 2nd, Coopers in 3rd and Chosen in 4th place.

Sponsored Bounce – Tuesday 1st July

The School Council are helping me to organise a sponsored bounce to raise money for playtime equipment.  More information will be sent out after half term.
