Newsletter Summer Term – Number 1                                  Wednesday 7th May 2008

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you all enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend as well as the now distant Easter/ Spring holidays!

Lunchtime Supervisors Needed

As Mrs Bussy is leaving at half term and Mrs Radnor is now on maternity leave, we need two new Lunchtime Supervisors to start as soon as possible.  The hours of work are from 11:50am to 1:05pm, Monday to Friday during term time only.  The rate of pay works out at approximately £6.50 per hour. If you are interested then please contact me for further details.

Charitable Ventures

Many thanks to everyone who supported the Readathon event.  I’m delighted to inform you that we raised a total of £338, which was sent off to CLIC and the Roald Dahl Foundation.

I’d like to remind you to keep bringing in any small loose change you can spare.  This can be placed in our collection box in reception.  Each term the money is used to support the education of a young orphan in India.  Her name is Seema Kumari and even small donations go a long way towards helping her to achieve a brighter future – many thanks.

Book Fair

The annual scholastic Book Fair begins next week.  Many thanks to the PTFA members who will be manning the stalls after school from Thursday 15th May to Wednesday 21st May.

House Point Cup

Congratulations to Coopers, last term’s winning house with 194 house points.  Crickley were second with 158 points, third were Cleeve with 148 and Chosen, the current holders of the Sports Day Cup, were fourth. I’m pleased to note that Cleeve are making the early running and are in first place at the moment this term!

SATs / Assessments – next week!

I’d be surprised if it’s escaped your notice but next week is Assessment Week!  This includes the very important Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs) that all Year 2 and Year 6 children throughout England will be taking.  Our pupils have been working hard in preparation for the tests but I hope they’re not feeling too worried or stressed – soon it will be all over!

All we ask is that each child tries his/her best in all of the tests.  Some early nights and a good breakfast everyday will help them to do this!

Walk to School Week

This national event is taking place between the 19th and 23rd May.  I appreciate that driving to and from school is essential for some parents but how about parking a short distance from school and walking the rest?  Please try to support this initiative in the best way you can.

You recently received a letter regarding the possibility of setting up an After School Club.  Please return your reply slips by Friday 9th May to ensure you’re entered in our prize draw!
